I Heart You RuPaul

I love RuPaul’s Drag Race. It’s one of my favourite shows in the whole wide world. Why? Because it is fabulous and just so full of hysterical one-liners. It makes the internet meme come into it’s own, and really, it’s just so sparkly!

I mean come on, try not to strut to this…

And oh the internet memes… Exhibit A

And what about a few GIFs just for good measure…

Oh Willem, how you crack me up!

That’s just so…

But the best part of RuPaul’s Drag Race? Yep, the out and out bitchiness… Exhibit B

In case you missed it that was…

Don’t watch the show? Well lucky you! You have heaps of back episodes to catch up on! I heart you RuPaul!

And just how does the transformation from drab to fab happen? Watch this YouTube tutorial…

Gorgeous!

It’s Official, I am the Soccer-World-Cup-Octopus of Eurovision!

And the winner is….

DENMARK! THE WINNER IS DENMARK!

It would be surprising, if only I hadn’t predicted it over on The Cheeky Diva all the way back on the 3rd April. Don’t believe me see for yourself! From now on I will be hiring out my services to anyone wanting to take a punt on Eurovision winners, as long as I get a cut of any winnings. Any losses are on you.

Here’s the winning entry, because you can never have enough of this one…

I knew this was a winning entry the moment I first saw and heard it. The music is lyrical and haunting. The flute is beautiful. Emmelie de Forest is beautiful and has an amazing voice. The bare-footed imp look is a real winner. You can just imagine her frolicking in the forest with the fairy folk.  The song is really catchy and I have been singing it for months now. I am so glad to see my predictions come true. If Denmark didn’t win we may very well have been purchasing a new flat screen TV today as ours would have been smashed by projectiles!

And so we say farewell to another wonderful year of Eurovision. See you next year in Denmark!

So, The Semi-Finals are Over – Now for the Real Deal!!

The Eurovision semi-finals are finished, over and done. Here is the list of qualifiers for tonight’s grand finals..

eurovision finalists

Here are some highlights from the last two night’s shenanigans…

Semi-Final 1

Semi-Final 1 was a bit of a ballad-a-thon, which is always a bit disappointing. There were some highlights though. Montenegro didn’t let me down. Space suits and plastic wings, because after all, it’s Eurovision!

Unfortunately they didn’t make the finals. For shame!

Another highlight was the entry from Moldova. If you watch this girl’s sparkly dress, there’s a surprise at the end (hint – she’s channeling Daryl Hannah)

But my pick of semi-final 1 is of course the wonderful Emmelie De Forest with ‘Only Teardrops’. She is my pick for the winner this year. The song is epic, she is gorgeous, bring it home Denmark!!

I’ll dry your tear drops!

Semi-Final 2

Semi-Final 2 was where Eurovision came in to it’s own this year. Within the first three songs we had what was arguably the first stage dive in Eurovision history, a keytar, and a giant, red, yodelling woman, all to a techno beat!

now we’re talking! Fancy a bit of yodeling?

Yes, my very red friend, sing it to me!

The biggest hightlight for me was Krista from Finland. If you recall my previous Eurovision recaps, I had Krista down for best accent fail. As it turns out, she is better than I thought. In a dramatic ending to what started out as a slap in the face for the feminist movement, Krista advocates for same-sex marriage and kisses a girl on stage. It’s a pretty lame kiss, but we’ll let her have it. I may just be voting Finland tonight instead of Denmark. The jury is still out

Go Krista! (and for the record she’s singing “for you”, just wanted to clear that up!)

Another highlight from Semi-final 2 was Cezar from Romania with ‘It’s My Life’. The genre has been lovingly labelled ‘Popera’. Just to clarify, he does want to paint his world in poo, and if you watch, here’s another tribute to Darryl Hannah (evidently dress extensions are a thing this year)

And guess what? He made it through to the finals! But you knew that from studying the table at the top of this post right?

The final highlight for the night came from Albania in the form of ejaculating guitars

Because every guitar is better with sparkles!

I am pumped for tonight’s finals. I can’t decide whether to swoosh my pom poms for Krista or Emmelie, but either way, poms poms will be a-swooshing! Follow me on twitter to catch me tweeting stuff (@skweego). Have a great night!
